Thank you for hopping by to see my take on the Paper Piecing Technique.  I think the first time I saw this technique was using a chicken from a now retired stamp set.  I thought it a great way to add some color and depth to my cards.  I am featuring the In the Moment stamp set.  I was happy to see that this beautiful stamp set is being carried over to the new catalog.  

To create this card, I first stamped the image using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Basic White card stock.  I used the light So Saffron Blend pen to color her hair and the skin tone Blends to color her legs and arms. 

Next, using Fresh Freesia ink, I stamped the image on scraps of Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper (gingham for the pants) and on Fresh Freesia card stock for the shirt.  Using Tuxedo Black Memento ink, I stamped the pillows on a scrap of Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper and the mug on a scrap of the New Horizons Designer Series Paper.  I fussy cut the pieces that I wanted from each of these images and adhered them to the original stamped image.

Once I adhered all the pieces to the image, I layered it on a piece of Gorgeous Grape card stock.  This layer was adhered to a piece of Fresh Freesia card stock that I embossed using the Gingham Embossing folder (how could I not use this folder when using the gingham pattern of Designer Series Paper).

I used some Basic White Twine (leftover from a Paper Pumpkin kit) and wrapped it around the embossed layer of card stock.  I thought this added just a bit more detail to the card.

I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Basic White card stock and adhered this layer to a piece of Gorgeous Grape card stock.  This piece was than adhered to the embossed layer, directly over the twine.

I adhered this complete layer to the front of a Fresh Freesia card base.  I added a few Iridescent Rhinestones to finish off the front of the card.

Finally, I adhered a piece of Basic White card stock to the inside of my card so that I could write a note.  I think this layer on the inside creates a more finished looking card.

Gorgeous Grape card stock - 1 1/2" x 2 1/8"

Basic White card stock - 3" x 3"

Basic White card stock - 1 3/8" x 2"

Basic White card stock - 4" x 5 1/4" - inside of card
